‘A lot of our more commercial climbing holds, I make out of granite and marble offcuts from kitchen worktops. Essentially, I'm upcycling a waste product. The stone industry is tremendously wasteful.’
‘It's been a long road from my first climbing holds which might have exploded off the wall because it was too cold. It’s like projecting a boulder outside that's really hard, you don't stop and keep trying until you get it right.’
‘My dad was an artist so I've always been relatively creative. I'm very dyslexic so love colors, shapes and the way they sort of interact. I find it very creatively satisfying to combine the colors and the stones. The aesthetic is a big part of what drives me.’
‘Climbing is getting more popular than it ever has been. Coming from the indoors, people don't realize the ethical responsibility that they have when they're climbing outdoors and they're representing climbers as a whole, especially somewhere as beautiful as a Peak District.’
